Interactive images from finished visuals.
From finished visual to clickable image map
With the AI Image Hotspots OPAL, you upload your finished campaign visual, the AI detects the interactive areas, and you just assign the targets. The result is an accessible SVG image map – quick and without technical skills.
What the OPAL solves for you
AI detects the areas: upload an image – the elements that should be clickable appear as pre-filled hotspots (buttons, CTA areas, panels, clearly delimited objects).
Assign targets with a click: give each hotspot a target – web address, product or category – plus a label. No HTML or CSS.
Output as SVG: the result comes as a scalable, accessible SVG image map – via a VisualCMS widget or directly in the template.
Part of the OPAL family
OPALs are building blocks from OXID eSales: a proven, solid foundation that needs to be adapted to your system landscape and integrated into your shop.

AI detects the interactive areas
Drawn buttons, CTA areas, labeled panels and teasers as well as distinct objects and object parts (e.g. wheel, lamp, door) are suggested as rectangular areas. For each area, the AI suggests a label in the language visible in the image.
One analysis per image – not per request
The analysis attempt is recorded on the image; reloading, switching tabs or a partial form do not trigger another (paid) AI call. It is only repeated for a different image or on explicit request.
Accessible SVG output, embeddable anywhere
The image map scales with its container via SVG; each area is a keyboard-accessible link with a text alternative (aria-label and title). It is embedded via a VisualCMS widget or directly in the template – even without VisualCMS at all. If a linked product or category is missing, the area is withheld (no links to deleted pages).
Edit areas directly on the image
Move by dragging, resize via the corner – fully keyboard-operable (Tab, arrow keys, Del) and with a text fallback without JavaScript. Coordinates are stored as fractions of the image, so an area keeps its position at any display size.
Three target types per area
A hotspot leads to a web address, a product or a category. You select products and categories from the catalog – the link stays valid even after renaming.
Base image via upload or media library
Direct upload (PNG, JPEG, WebP up to 10 MB; the type is determined from the file content, not the name) or – where the media library module is active – selection from existing images.
Who is this OPAL for?
Shop operator / marketing
You have a finished campaign visual or lookbook and want to make individual areas in it clickable – without a developer.
What the OPAL delivers here
You upload the image, the AI suggests the interactive areas as hotspots, and you just assign the targets (URL, product or category) and a label. No HTML, no CSS, no manually drawing areas. The result is a scalable, accessible SVG image map.
