ElektroG §17 obliges distributors to take back old devices.
Old-device take-back – in your store, not alongside it
The OXID standard offers no process for WEEE take-back. The WEEE Take-Back OPAL brings both routes into your store: 1:1 take-back with a new purchase directly in the cart and 0:1 return of small old devices via a dedicated request form. You control the WEEE obligation and the device category cleanly via OXID attributes.
What the OPAL solves for you
1.1:1 take-back with a new purchase: old-device return per WEEE item in the cart, limited to the purchased quantity and documented with the order.
2.0:1 return without purchase: a dedicated request form for small old devices, even without a customer account.
3.Categories & records: WEEE obligation and device category via OXID attributes; you see all 0:1 requests collected in the admin area.
Part of the OPAL family
OPALs are building blocks from OXID eSales: a proven, solid foundation that needs to be adapted to your system landscape and integrated into your store.

<OPAL/>
Return in the cart (1:1)
For each item subject to WEEE, a return quantity can be selected – automatically limited to the purchased quantity and documented with the order.
Notice & order documentation
A WEEE notice appears on the product page. The return information is included in the order confirmation emails and in the admin order view.
WEEE status via attributes
WEEE obligation and device category are handled via OXID attributes – assignable in the admin area or via ERP import. Variants inherit from the parent item.
Non-invasive & configurable in the admin area
The OPAL extends the shop via the OXID extension chain. The 1:1 and 0:1 rules as well as the maximum quantities can be set in the admin area.
Dedicated page for 0:1 returns
For returns without a new purchase, there is a dedicated page with a request form – also for visitors without a customer account.
Request form for small devices
Form with address, device category and quantity plus captcha – for categories 3, 5 and 6, by default max. 3 devices per category.
Who is the OPAL for?
Electrical / electronics retailer
You sell electrical and electronic equipment and, as a distributor, are subject to the take-back obligation under ElektroG §17 – both with a new purchase (1:1) and for small devices without a new purchase (0:1).
What the OPAL delivers here
The OPAL covers both take-back routes technically: with a new purchase, customers choose the old-device return directly in the cart; the quantity is limited to the purchased quantity and documented with the order. For 0:1 returns, there is a dedicated page with a request form. You control the WEEE obligation and device category via OXID attributes.
