Two calculation methods
Flat rate – a fixed amount per order line, regardless of quantity (such as a one-time cutting fee). Or per unit – amount times quantity ordered (such as per running meter). With “per unit”, the amount on the product page updates immediately when the customer changes the quantity.
Managed centrally, assigned per product
You create cost types once in the admin area – with a multilingual name, amount and calculation method – and assign them to the relevant products – for variants, to the respective variant. You can deactivate a type instead of deleting it. It is then neither displayed nor calculated.
The product’s tax rate
By default, the surcharges take on the tax rate of the product they belong to and appear in the corresponding line of the tax summary. For special cases, you can store a fixed tax rate on the cost type that replaces the product’s rate.
Transparent before the purchase
The amount is visible next to the product it belongs to: on the product page, in the cart, in the mini cart and in the order confirmation.
Firmly tied to the order
At purchase, the surcharges are stored as a separate item in the order and are visible in the admin area and in the customer account. If you later change the amount or tax rate, orders already placed remain unchanged.
Cleanly separated from discounts
The surcharges are a separate line item: vouchers and discounts do not apply to them. They do, however, count toward the free shipping threshold – so the processing also brings the customer closer to free shipping.
