In OXID, countries are maintained globally.
Control countries per subshop – without collateral damage
If one shop deactivates a country, it disappears from all subshops – and even subshop admins without mall rights can change it. The Country Management per Subshop OPAL gives each subshop its own country activation and protects the global setting from changes made within a subshop.
What the OPAL solves for you
1.Activate or deactivate countries per subshop instead of globally – via an inheritance toggle in the Mall tab.
2.For countries the subshop has not decided on itself, the global setting automatically continues to apply.
3.The global status is protected – it can no longer be changed from within a subshop.
Before / After
Shop A deactivates Germany – and Shop B loses the country as well, because countries are only maintained globally.
Shop A switches off inheritance and deactivates Germany for itself only; Shop B remains unaffected via the global status.
A subshop admin without mall rights accidentally changes the global country status.
Changes made in a subshop only take effect there. The global status is changed exclusively in the main shop.
Part of the OPAL family
OPALs are building blocks from OXID eSales: a proven, solid foundation that needs to be adapted to your system landscape and integrated into your store.

OXID
<OPAL/>
Control inheritance per subshop
In the subshop, under "Master Settings → Core Settings → Mall", the checkbox "Inherit active status of countries from parent shop" appears (default: on). When it is on, the global status applies; when it is off, the shop manages its own.
Own country activation per shop
Each subshop keeps its own active status for countries. The global country data such as name and ISO codes stays unchanged and continues to be maintained centrally.
Global status protected
The global country status can no longer be changed from within a subshop. It is maintained exclusively in the main shop.
Conservative setup
On setup, every shop starts with the current global state, so nothing changes at first. The OPAL only takes effect once a subshop switches off inheritance.
Fallback to the global setting
The subshop does not have to set every country itself. For every country it has not stored its own decision for, the global status automatically continues to apply.
Consistent effect
The shop's own status applies in the storefront country list, in the address check during checkout and in the country assignments for payment methods, shipping methods and discounts.
Who is the OPAL for?
Multishop / mall operator
You run several subshops on one OXID EE installation. Shop A only sells to Austria, Shop B to Germany – but countries are maintained globally, so a deactivated country disappears from all subshops.
What the OPAL delivers here
With the OPAL, you decide on inheritance per subshop: as long as it is on, the global status still applies. If you switch it off, the subshop manages its countries itself – without touching the global status or the other shops. For countries the subshop has not set itself, the global setting continues to apply.
