A long attribute list is harder to take in than a structured one.
Your attribute list becomes a clear structure
Technical products and products that need a lot of explanation have many attributes. Listed flat, one below the other, they are hard to take in and inconsistent across channels. With named groups – such as chassis, motor, battery – specifications become scannable and consistent, without touching the existing flat attribute model.
What the OPAL solves for you
Organize attributes into named groups that can be nested to any depth (e.g. chassis, motor, battery).
Show a clearly structured specification as an accordion – unassigned attributes are collected under “Additional attributes”.
The existing attribute model stays intact; the structure can be retrieved via OXAPI for all channels.
Part of the OPAL family
OPALs are building blocks from OXID eSales: a proven, solid foundation that needs to be adapted to your system landscape and integrated into your shop.

Nested groups of any depth
Each group can have a parent group, sorted siblings and any number of subgroups. The order on each level is controlled via sorting.
Multiple assignment & order
An attribute can belong to multiple groups; the order of the attributes within a group can be freely defined. This keeps specifications consistently structured across all products.
Translatable titles & descriptions
Group titles can be maintained in multiple languages. In addition, each group has an optional description, also multilingual, which is delivered via the API (OXAPI).
Maintain groups in the admin
In the admin under “Administer Products → Attribute Groups”, you create groups, name and sort them and assign them an icon. You assign the attributes in the group’s “Attributes” tab – or via the API, for example directly from your PIM.
Storefront accordion (Apex theme)
In the “Specification” section of the product page, grouped attributes are displayed as a depth-aware accordion: the first top-level group is open by default, subgroups appear as titled sections.
Icons per group
Each group can be assigned a Bootstrap icon (e.g. “bi bi-gear”), which appears next to the title. The icons are served locally.
Who is this OPAL for?
E-Commerce Manager
Your products have many technical attributes, and the product page shows them as a long, flat list that is harder to take in than a structured layout.
What the OPAL delivers here
Customers find the values that matter to them faster on the product page and compare products more easily. That gives them confidence in their purchase decision and saves inquiries about technical details.
