Searches that lead to answers.
When customers search for information, not products
The OXID search finds products – but a customer looking for an FAQ, a guide or a brand page comes up empty. The OPAL includes CMS pages as well as category, manufacturer and supplier texts in the search and shows them in the autosuggest alongside the products. Without an additional search service.
What the OPAL solves for you
Find answers, not just products: CMS pages as well as category, manufacturer and supplier texts become searchable – questions about shipping, care or brands lead to the right page.
Autosuggest covering both worlds: the suggestion dropdown shows product and content hits separately – customers see right away whether there is a product or a piece of information.
Product search stays as it is: products are still found as usual, and content is added in a separate section.
Part of the OPAL family
OPALs are building blocks from OXID eSales: a proven, solid foundation that needs to be adapted to your system landscape and integrated into your store.

This content becomes searchable
CMS pages as well as category, manufacturer and supplier descriptions. Each content type can be switched on or off individually per store, so only what you release is searched.
Autosuggest with two sections
The suggestion dropdown in the search field shows products and content in separate sections – keyboard-accessible and debounced, so a search isn't triggered on every keystroke.
Content hits on the results page
The content found appears in its own block, which you place above or below the product list – clearly separated from the products.
Two search strategies to choose from
A simple search that runs without any changes to your store, or a more accurate full-text search – switchable per store. The full-text option uses MySQL full-text indexes that you create once.
Unpublished content stays hidden
The content visibility rules apply unchanged: inactive, scheduled or customer-group-restricted pages don't appear in the search. That way no draft is accidentally published via the search.
Subshop- and language-aware
In multi-tenant setups, only the content of the requesting store is found, and in a multilingual store only the content in the active language.
Who is the OPAL for?
Stores with curated content
You have guides, FAQs and brand pages – but your customers can't find them via the search.
What the OPAL delivers here
The OPAL includes this content in the search. An FAQ page that is found answers the question directly and saves a support request; in the autosuggest, customers see right away whether there is a product or a piece of information.
